Keeping the Homeless Alive CTV News This is the 8th year The Bargains Group is helping the homeless stay alive in the winter, with Project Winter Survival. Volunteers came to 890 Caledonia Rd. on January 17th to pack donated backpacks with thousands dollars worth of products donated by our generous suppliers, our community and clients. These items included socks, hats, gloves, toothpaste and toothbrushes, a bottle of water, a food item and much more. Project Winter Survival raised over $30,000 to buy sleeping bags which will accompany the packed backpacks which will be given out on January 24th. On this day, all these kits will be distributed to over 90 front line agencies which will then get them to the homeless in hopes of getting them to shelters.
